The Access Gateway is a new ATCA based high density wireless routing and services platform that can be flexibly deployed as one or many of the key packet core functional elements. Configuration options range from a combined GSM/UMTS GGSN to the emerging LTE standardized functions such as MME and Serving/PDN Gateway as well as Home Agent that can also be deployed with WiMAX. In later releases the same Access Gateway will support SGSN as well as non 3GPP access technologies such as WiMAX and WiFi.
