Nortel's Unified Communications Management (UCM) provides comprehensive management capabilities across voice, data, and multimedia applications, utilizing a set of Common Services that serve as a foundation for unifying management applications. Common Services allow network management applications to integrate with each other so that common components (e.g., user data, database information, certificate management) can be shared, without requiring that the same definitions and configurations be repeated for each application. The result is a fully integrated, single point of contact, providing a unified view of the network, while streamlining workflows and the management environment and reducing installation and configuration time, system operations and maintenance.

While supporting both voice and data networks as well as heterogeneous network infrastructures, the Unified Communications Management solution simplifies network requirements associated with managing faults, configuration, accounting, performance and security.

• Enterprise Policy Manager
  Allows network administrators to manage bandwidth, prioritize traffic streams, control Quality of Service (QoS) and set network access policies. Includes support for Nortel Ethernet Routing Switches, Secure Network Access Switches, Secure Routers and VPN Routers.
• IP Flow Manager
  Through IPFIX analysis for Nortel Ethernet Routing Switches, the IP Flow Manager permits administrators to monitor, view and diagnose problems at the application level and then use this flow-based data to make informed decisions about the network.
• Network Resource Manager
  Simplifies key configuration management services for switches in the network, including Ethernet Routing Switches, Secure Network Access Switches, Secure Routers and VPN Routers.
• Subscriber Manager
  Enables centralized management of all subscriber services provided by Nortel applications to create, move or change services from a central interface. Provides synchronization with existing LDAP directories allowing for automated telephony account updates.
• Visualization Performance and Fault Manager
  The Visualization Performance and Fault Manager (VPFM) provides network discovery, topology visualization and performance and fault management while supporting heterogeneous (multi-vendor) networks. The VPFM is a web based application that utilizes Nortel's new Unified Communications Management (UCM) Common Services.
